Events organisers choose artistes for their shows for various reasons, although usually, artistes whose songs are doing great on the charts or who have a lot of public appeal who get the most use.
This means we sometimes get to see the same artistes on different platforms and this is something that does not sit well with Gospel artiste, Nhyira Betty.
In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, the singer said it was discouraging that the same Gospel acts are put on all the shows.
According to Nhyira Betty, she has realised over the years that a particular group of artistes are always billed for events. Though she did not want to mention names, she said the trend had become worse since last year.
Powerful Ministration
“From the list of artistes always billed for shows, one is tempted to believe that the rest are idle and not working but that is not the case. Event organisers have decided to use the same people over and over again and that is not the best.
“There are equally good talents that can give event organisers value for their money but they are sidelined since they are perceived not to be too good or the choice of patrons.
“Since last year till date, those who follow proceedings in the industry will realise that just a few acts are playing all the shows and as I have already stated, it is not the best. There should be an equal platform and chance for everyone,” she stated.
Nhyira Betty said based on current happenings, no Gospel artiste should be blamed for charging high rates when they work their way to the top.
“In all this, when you work hard and God favours you to get to the top, these same people who denied you their platforms will quickly turn around and accuse you of high charges. That is the only time they realise you are working for God and your focus should not be money,” she said.
Real name Betty Adwoa Serwaa Yeboah, Nhyira Betty unveiled herself with the release of her debut album, Apam Adaka in 2016. Her other albums are Sunsum Boafo and Altar Call.
